mentoring

Mentoring, supervising, coaching and training is foreseen by the host organisation.

• Supervising on the specific tasks and themes, by each staff member within his/her field of expertise
• Mentoring on the well-being and civic integration in Ghent
• Guidance, coaching and training at the level of the learning progress and to reflect upon challenges and to discuss comfort/stretch/panic zones in the learning and the overall activity

One staff person will be allocated to each individual participant to support in the office and to assist in the organizing of the free time (sharing the possibilities Ghent is offering, depending on the interests of the participants).

One staff person in the office allocated to both participants to organize monthly meetings as reflection moments for the learning progress, as well as to monitor the well-being of the participants in the living, working and leisure.

Also one “outsider” as mentor, who we know from the previous pools of EVS-mentors, who is not part of the staff, to have at regular times a beer with the volunteer in the evening, and also as contact point in case the volunteers are not safe with one of the staff members.
